Pair of large early Meiji period Imari heavy gauge earthenware Rouleau Japanese Ginger Jar Vases of generous size. These beautiful hand decorated heavy gauge-ware vases were made during the Meiji period (1868-1912), in this distinctive and wonderful style, and in Rouleau vase form.
Each of baluster outline, hand decorated in colours of rich enamels with lavish gilding depicting a continuous scene of stunning garden flowers and foliage on an off-white ground, the original covers with similar decoration.
Condition: Superb condition with no allover losses anywhere and no wear to gilding highlights, possibly never used. Typically, unmarked underneath.
